It's good to follow a prescription for a job search!
Why is an Rx necessary?
First, using the common ways to find a job
Can make any job seeker cranky, ill at ease
And maybe have heartburn!
The filling in of applications, composing a
Resume, sending them out to numerous
Employers and reading the local want
Ads, have even the staunchest job seeker
Seeing red! Not to mention the increased
Heart-rate, sweaty palms, and stress
of going on interviews for jobs
You can't remember applying for!
So, what and where is the RX?
1. Know who you really are.
2. Identify the skills you have and want to use.
3. Research your local labor market.
4. Talk to people.
5. Network with everyone, even the grocery clerk!
6. Interview chosen employers-"informational
7. interviewing"
8. Create a snappy resume, if you must have one!
9. Better still, give that employer you like a
super proposal--"problem solving you"
10. Mail or deliver thank you notes
11. Get support from family and friends.
12. Respond to the unexpected invitation
for a job you never applied for.
